About Us:

Within the parish of Zennor the cottages are set in 100 acres of working farmland, owned by the Berryman family since the 16th century. Amid this land is a fortified settlement with the remains of courtyard houses, roundhouses and a fougou.

From the farm there are fabulous far reaching views to the sea and beautiful sunsets for which this area is renowned. There is access to the coastal footpath through ancient farmland bringing you down to the delightful horseshoe indentation of Porthmeor Cove.

Porthmeor Cottages are ideally situated for West Penwith’s art and culture as well as outdoor pursuits and locally sourced food. For the Tate, St Ives, Penlee Museum in Penzance, the Newlyn Art gallery as well as the associations with 20th century artists like Patrick Heron and Barbara Hepworth. There is walking, cycling, horse riding and even rock climbing; for the foodies the fresh locally produced food with the renown Gurnard’s Head Restaurant a 10 minute stroll away. Literacy enthusiasts may be interested to know that Virginia Wolfe stayed in Porthmeor Farmhouse, DH Lawrence lived in Zennor and our farm and the surrounding area have been filmed for Rosamund Pilcher’s TV adaptations.

Each property awaits your arrival with a home-made cream tea and freshly cut flowers.

Clippity Clop was originally the stallion house, now delightfully restored this immaculate property, sleeping two, retains many original features and provides a stylish retreat. Throughout the barn are exposed beams, whereby the upstairs galleried bedroom shelters under the eaves.

Eliza’s Croft sleeps four with its picture windows has stunning views of Carn Galver and the Atlantic ocean. Three steps lead up to the entrance hall of this idyllic retreat, decorated and furnished with flair, where guests are assured of a peaceful and comfortable break.

Both cottages have a roaring wood-burner, adding warmth to cooler evenings as you plan the following day’s adventures.

Open all year. Ample parking on site. Short breaks available.

About the Owners:

We have welcomed guests to our self catering cottages at Porthmeor for over 30 years. Prior to us taking over the farmhouse William’s grandmother provided bed and breakfast for many years with Virginia Wolfe being the most famed guest to stay. We consider ourselves very fortunate to live in such a beautiful part of Cornwall with the farm bordering onto the South West Coastal Path. There are numerous cafes and restaurants in the surrounding area and our favourite place to eat, the renown Gurnard’s Head gastro pub, is just a 10 minute stroll away. A great place for breakfast, lunch, supper or something in between on high days and holidays.
