South East Cornwall

Area and attraction information for South East Cornwall

Did you know.?

One of the old whitewashed cottages surrounding the harbour at Polperro houses a smuggling museum, the village once having been notorious for this occupation.

In the 1940s, the parish priest of Warleggan made cardboard parishioners and propped them in the pews. Nobody went to his regular Sunday services because when they did turn up he was incredibly rude to them. He delivered his sermons to his cardboard flock instead.

Bounded to the west and east by the rivers Fowey and Tamar, encompassing the southern half of Bodmin Moor and with more than 20 miles of coast, South East Cornwall is perfect for a variety of activities. South West Devon is also easily accessible from this corner of the county.
